The fashion industry is one of the most wasteful in the world. Extending the life of clothes by just nine months would save £5 billion in resources. I’m Becky, a 25 year old business owner and content creator. My aim is to inspire a new generation to prolong the life of their clothing and ditch fast fashion for second hand alternatives. Sustainability is my passion and the main focus of my job, I run a second hand clothing business called ‘Becky’s Bazaar’ and source all my stock secondhand from car boot sales, thrift stores and vintage wholesalers. I also share my journey and behind the scenes of my thrifting trips to my 120,000 TikTok followers. On my social media platforms (@beckysbazaar) I film fun challenges with friends and family to show how amazing shopping secondhand really is! My most popular videos include “giving my mum £5 to buy me an outfit from a charity shop” and “trading a paper clip at a car boot sale” which have totaled over 10 million views since uploading. I’ll be attending the sustainability show to convey that shopping secondhand is not only more sustainable for the environment but also a lot of fun, cheaper and a hell of a lot cooler!
