Cars Top The Bill as a Major Polluter
A typical passenger vehicle emits about 4.6 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide each year. Transport remains the highest CO2 emitting sector above residential, agriculture, energy and waste at around 27% of the UK’s total emissions. By 2030 the UK has leapt ahead of the rest of Europe pledging an end to the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030. In addition, the UK Government is pushing businesses and local authorities to install an additional 140,000 charge points, and grants are also available for residential homes.
